MPA Projects Federal Film Incentive Would Double U.S. Production and Create 143,500 Jobs

The Motion Picture Association says U.S. film and TV production could double by 2032 if Congress approves a federal film incentive. In a report prepared by Olsberg SPI, the group projects that a 20% federal credit would generate about 143,500 production jobs per year. The MPA is partnering with Hollywood unions to push for a tax incentive to revive a domestic industry described as lagging. President Trump endorsed the proposal last month, and a bill is expected to be introduced by the end of the month. The report estimates film and TV spending would rise to $34.7 billion by 2032 with the incentive, from $16.9 billion without it, and claims cumulative economic impact of $249.1 billion for 2027–2035, though the proposal’s cost is not finalized.
