Milwaukee’s NLDS opener against San Diego swung on a freak bounce off the ballpark roof. Ty France thought he’d hit a two-run homer in the ninth, but his drive struck a cable above the left-field wall and dropped into the glove of Brewers left fielder Jackson Chourio on the warning track. That set up Milwaukee’s 3-2 win. In the ALDS opener in St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay’s Drew Rasmussen kept the Yankees hitless until the eighth, when Austin Wells doubled; Rasmussen struck out 10 and walked two, and Bryan Baker pitched a perfect ninth for a 1-0 Rays victory. Tarik Skubal led the Dodgers to a 5-3 win over the Braves in a Game 1 marked by 100-degree conditions.
