Tempo's Mabrey a late scratch vs. Mercury do to neck injury

Tempo’s Marina Mabrey was a late scratch for Toronto’s Saturday game against the visiting Phoenix Mercury due to a neck injury. The team said Mabrey was scheduled to start 30 minutes before tipoff, but experienced neck spasms during warmups and was removed from the lineup. The game at Scotiabank Arena marked the first time the venue hosted a Tempo game. Toronto was coming off a 125-97 blowout of the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, highlighted by Mabrey’s WNBA record-tying 53-point performance; she shot 17-of-28 overall and 9-of-18 from three in 32 minutes. The 29-year-old Notre Dame product is averaging 21.2 points with a 45.9% field goal percentage and 40.3% from three. Toronto fell to 9-9 and sat in the final playoff spot at 8th place.
