The report suggests Young would have asked for a deal in the range of $250–$300 million, which would have extended Sacramento’s financial commitment longer than they wanted. Washington later signed Young to a four-year, $218 million contract. A podcast source, Ham, said Sacramento feared an extension could be demanded immediately after Young arrived, and that the Kings were not prepared for a “long-term Trae business.”
