Water towers in Shreveport up for Tank of the Year
Shreveport’s water towers are in the running for Tnemec Company’s annual “Tank of the Year,” a contest featuring tanks from across the country and judged for “The People’s Choice.” Two local entries are Linwood Tank on I-49 and Port Tank along Louisiana Highway 1. Competing finalists also include tanks from Ruston, Louisiana and Tyler, Texas. Tnemec said voting runs until Friday, Oct. 16, with the winner announced the following Friday, Oct. 23. Linwood’s designer, Teri Rhodes White, described the inspiration behind “Shreve Love” and said the tower includes a hidden message in Morse code spelling “free love.” Linwood is currently 17th. If Shreveport tanks miss “People’s Choice,” they can still win via selection of 11 other tank enthusiasts; all 12 finalists will appear in Tnemec’s next tank calendar. In 2022, Bossier City won Tank of the Year.
