Weinstein accuser details 7-year fight for justice after sentencing

Mimi Haley, the accuser of Harvey Weinstein, said she nearly walked away from the fight for justice before deciding to testify a second time after a New York judge recommended a 15-year prison sentence. In an interview with Newsweek alongside attorney Gloria Allred, Haley described a seven-year legal battle involving two criminal trials, intense cross-examinations, and repeated attacks on her credibility. Weinstein’s sentencing recommendation follows his second New York conviction for committing a criminal sexual act against Haley. Weinstein was first convicted in 2020 and sentenced to 20 years, but that verdict was overturned in 2024, prompting a retrial in which a jury again found him guilty. The case helped fuel the #MeToo movement. Allred noted Judge Curtis Farber called Weinstein a “sexual predator,” while Weinstein also faces resentencing in California.
