Amazon will temporarily pause its use of 21 Air, the operator of the Prime Air cargo jet involved in a fatal crash at Miami International Airport last week, according to NBC News. The online retailer said the suspension follows its investigation into the Sept. 6 crash, as well as a review of “some of the surrounding circumstances.” In a statement to NBC, Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said it has spent time supporting the inquiry and reviewing relevant factors, and decided to pause operations with 21 Air and Flight 7598. Amazon said it is working with other shippers, including Sun Country Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Air Transport International, ABX Air, ASL Airlines and Cargojet, to cover gaps. The crash killed five people in a van and left five wounded, while both pilots survived with minor injuries.
