Audi Sport boss Michl set for exit: No new motorsport chief?

Rolf Michl, managing director of Audi Sport GmbH and motorsport chief at Audi’s performance-vehicles subsidiary, is set to be transferred to China, according to Motorsport-Total.com. Rumors about his exit have circulated for some time, with a possible move during 2026. Michl, 48, took over in September 2022, succeeding Julius Seebach as head of both Audi Sport and motorsport operations. Motorsport-Total.com reports that his role is now only managing director because Audi abolished the motorsport-boss position after the Dakar program ended in early 2024. The broader scaling back included ending customer racing support like the long-running GT3 customer program and halting Audi’s factory involvement in the Dakar after 2024.
