Embarrassed for Him": NASCAR Broadcaster Blasts Carson Hocevar for Wasting His Talent on "Phony" Gimmicks
Carson Hocevar’s on-track momentum in NASCAR is being overshadowed, at least according to former Cup driver Jamie McMurray. Speaking on the Door Bumper Clear podcast, McMurray said he’s “embarrassed for him,” arguing Hocevar is wasting talent by leaning into a “manufactured persona,” attention-seeking “gimmicks,” and social media rather than letting race results define him. The criticism comes as Hocevar has logged multiple incidents this year, including a spin of RFK Racing driver Sheldon Creed during the Southern 500 at Darlington on Sunday. McMurray and others link the growing controversy to lost focus. Others have also referenced Hocevar’s high-profile relationship with TikTok influencer Tabitha Swatosh. Spire employee Freddie Kraft said the approach may be costing Hocevar more than it helps.
