Jeep Recon EV Scopes Out a Market that May Not Exist

Jeep is adding an electric Recon for the 2026 model year, but the bigger question is whether there’s enough demand for an off-road-focused EV SUV. Electric vehicles make up about 6.5% of total US new-vehicle sales in the first half of 2026, down from 7.5% last year. The Recon shares a platform with the Wagoneer S and the Dodge Charger Daytona, both of which reportedly haven’t sold well. Jeep says the Recon will be a Trail Rated, fully electric SUV with motors on each axle producing 670 combined horsepower and 620 lb-ft. Range is rated at 240 miles EPA.
