Ford is recalling nearly 388,000 vehicles due to a second-row seat defect that creates an injury risk. The recall covers certain 2020 to 2027 Ford Aviator models and some 2020 to 2026 Ford Explorer vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The agency says the seats may have a flaw that could cause them to unlatch, tip, or slide unexpectedly, potentially preventing proper restraint of occupants in a crash. As of June 16, Ford’s Critical Concern Review Group identified 14 reports of the second-row seat moving while the vehicle was in drive. Owners will be able to visit a dealership for a free replacement of the defective part, identified as a bezel. NHTSA stated that notification letters will begin going out Monday, July 27, and the recall number is 26S52.
