Ford recalls 148,000 Mustangs after wiring fault could cut power, headlights, and AC

Ford is recalling 148,663 Mustang cars in the United States due to an engine-compartment wiring fault that could interrupt drive power and disable multiple systems, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The recall notice dated Aug. 25 covers certain 2024 through 2026 model-year Mustangs. NHTSA says wiring-harness ground points may fracture, potentially causing loss of drive power or failure of the windshield washer system, headlights, air conditioning, and the engine cooling fan. Regulators warn that losing drive power increases the risk of a crash, while loss of headlight or windshield-function capability can reduce visibility. Ford said it knows of no crashes or injuries linked to the issue. Dealers will install replacement ground terminals at no cost, with a second owner notice expected after the remedy becomes available, cited as March 2027.
