Ford recalls more than 741,000 vehicles because faulty park system can lead to rollaways
Ford Motor Company is recalling 741,195 vehicles in the U.S. after regulators said a fault in the electronic park system could allow rollaways. The issue involves park-by-wire functionality paired with 10R80 transmissions. Affected models include Lincoln Navigator and Expedition (2018-2021), Explorer and Lincoln Aviator (2020-2021), and Ford F-150 pickups (2020-2021). Ford estimates 1% of the recalled vehicles have the defect. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says drivers may see a wrench warning light, and the electronic parking brake can apply automatically if the vehicle does not enter park when commanded. Owners can get free software updates and replacement of damaged transmission components at Ford or Lincoln dealers. Separately, Ford is also recalling 36,046 Bronco vehicles (2022-2026) for loose fender flares that may detach.
