Hyundai starts taking orders for $17,700 Ioniq V, but you can't have it

Hyundai has begun taking pre-sale orders for the upcoming Ioniq V, but only customers in China can buy it “for now.” The model debuted four months earlier at the Beijing Auto Show and is part of Hyundai’s plan to launch 20 vehicles in the Chinese EV market. At the Chengdu Auto Show, Hyundai opened orders for three trims starting at about 119,900 yuan (roughly $17,700). Prices rise to about 129,900 yuan ($19,400) and 139,900 yuan ($20,900). All versions are fully electric with either a 53.5 kWh or 66.8 kWh battery, paired with motors rated at 188 hp (140 kW) and about 330 miles (520–540 km) of CLTC range, or 225 hp (168 kW) and about 390 miles (620–650 km). The Ioniq V uses Hyundai’s E-GMP platform with 800V charging, but Hyundai has not yet published the charge rate.
