It's Happening: Porsche Is Developing A Mid-Engined Hypercar
Porsche confirmed during its 2026 Capital Markets Day that it is developing a mid-engined super sports car platform positioned above the 911. The plan points to an entire flagship model line rather than a single derivative, with “model line” suggesting multiple variants could follow. While technical details are still under wraps, Porsche indicated the new range will be based on an internal-combustion architecture, not the all-electric direction proposed for the 2023 Mission X concept. The company frames the move as part of a “Value over Volume” strategy focused on higher-margin segments. Before any production car arrives, Porsche plans to preview the hypercar with a Mission S concept on October 15, with reports expecting an in-house flat-eight engine.
