Jaguar unveils 6-figure electric sedan it hopes marks a turnaround

Jaguar used a star-studded New York City event Tuesday to unveil the Type 01, an electric sedan it says is central to its turnaround. The long, low car switches from the brand’s sleek past to blocky styling, and its cabin features a 24-inch OLED screen for the driver plus an aluminum “central spine” separating left- and right-side passengers. Jaguar says the Type 01 uses an 850-volt battery architecture with an estimated 400-mile range, and more than 1,000 horsepower, delivering 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Prices start at $130,000 before options, putting it in the Porsche and Mercedes-AMG set, following Jaguar’s plan to stop new car production after 2024.
