John Hunter Nemechek loses Legacy Motor Club seat

Legacy Motor Club says John Hunter Nemechek will not return to drive the No. 42 Toyota in the NASCAR Cup Series next season. In a statement Wednesday, the team said it has decided to part ways with the 29-year-old at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Nemechek has been with the Jimmie Johnson-owned organization since 2024, posting one top-five and two top-10 finishes in 26 starts this year. The team has not named a replacement driver for the No. 42 car. Nemechek remains in search of his first Cup win. The Cup Series heads Sunday to Darlington Raceway for the playoff opener.
