Liux's Big microcar bets on sustainability to take on Chinese rivals

Liux, a Spanish startup, says its upcoming microcar, the Liux Big, is designed to fight for space in a micro-mobility segment increasingly dominated by small Chinese EVs. As European demand grows, ultracompact brands like Smart have moved manufacturing to China, and even Swiss Microlino has become a reference point for the “yoghurt pot” concept. Liux plans to start selling the Big in the first half of next year, after securing Europe-wide homologation in 2026. The company targets circularity: lithium batteries that can be recharged at home (including via solar), an easy-to-maintain design, and a fiber body using a linen-based biocomposite meant for later extraction and recycling.
