Marc Marquez back in title fight after "super important" win slashes MotoGP points deficit
Marc Marquez says he is back in contention for the MotoGP world title after winning the Czech Grand Prix, following a second consecutive “maximum points” haul at Brno. The defending champion finished fourth in the points standings after Sunday’s race, with leader Marco Bezzecchi failing to score over the weekend. Marquez had previously missed two races for surgery, prompting doubts about his championship prospects, but strong form in Hungary and Czechia helped him surge as errors from Bezzecchi and Aprilia also played a role. At Brno, he cut the gap by 37 points, reaching 40 points behind the leader. Marquez noted that the win came on a clockwise circuit, which he called “super important” and “something special,” while also stressing he could not push to the limit in the closing stages. The 33-year-old added he expects to be at his best after the summer break.
