Detroit Grand Prix is fast, loud and fun
Detroit's Grand Prix weekend features three races that circle the General Motors Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit. The event runs Friday through Sunday, delivering a multi-race program rather than a single competition. On Saturday, the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic takes center stage, an endurance-style race featuring prototypes. Premium viewing options expanded this year as the rooftops of four downtown garages opened to fans overlooking the 1.7-mile, nine-turn circuit.
Fans described the action as fast and loud, with cars passing in a blur and the roar audible even from distant vantage points. Grandstands offered traditional views, while Hart Plaza and Spirit of Detroit plazas provided free spaces with music, games, and food vendors for casual spectators. Attendees noted the urban setting's unique charm, including visibility of the Windsor skyline from certain spots across the Detroit River.
