Alfa Romeo Plans A New Hatchback To Challenge Volkswagen Golf Again

Alfa Romeo is planning a major comeback in the C segment with a new family hatchback that will target the Volkswagen Golf. The model will use Stellantis’ STLA One platform, the same architecture backing the next-gen Peugeot 308 and Opel Astra, and will support multiple powertrains, enabling both electric and gasoline versions, including mild-hybrid and plug-in variants. The electric version will use an 800-volt architecture for faster charging and modern performance in the premium compact segment, while gasoline variants will draw on Stellantis’ electrified engine technology. The hatchback is part of Alfa’s broader strategy to regain European relevance and will share technology with a future midsize crossover planned to replace the Tonale.
