Serena Williams will play singles at Wimbledon 2026 after receiving a wild card, the tournament announced Sunday. The 44-year-old, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and winner of seven Wimbledon singles titles, last played singles at the 2022 U.S. Open, when she lost in three sets to Ajla Tomljanović. Williams’ comeback began with grass-court doubles, including a wild card into Wimbledon doubles with her sister Venus, 46, and she has said she wants to train more and “we’ll see” if she can reach singles. At warm-up events in London and Berlin, she was non-committal about her plans, and she has been in tennis’ anti-doping testing pool for six months, becoming eligible in February. Her last Wimbledon singles title came in 2016.
