Volvo Doubles Plug-In Hybrid Range for Its XC60 and XC90 SUVs
xCruzo Brief
Volvo is expanding the electric capability of its two best-selling SUVs with new long-range plug-in hybrid versions of the XC60 and XC90. Volvo says the refreshed plug-in hybrid systems, built around a larger battery pack and a more powerful electric motor, deliver up to 78 EPA estimated miles of electric-only range in the XC60 and up to 73 miles in the three-row XC90. Volvo says that’s more than double what today’s plug-in hybrids can do. The vehicles also retain mild-hybrid options, and the XC60 and XC90 add Google Gemini for voice-driven navigation and functions. The XC60 gets more exterior and safety updates.
