Weird Experiment: This Hot Wheels Car Drove 13,459 Scale Miles in Five Days

A Weird Experiment involving a Hot Wheels car shows the limits of small-scale endurance testing, with a Hot Wheels GT40 (Mark IV) running for nearly a week before failing. In a livestreamed experiment by Diecast Endurance, the diecast kept going for five days, one hour, 10 minutes, and 42 seconds, before breaking. The setup used a belt sander turned on its side as a dynamometer, with a plastic clip holding the car while allowing free wheel rolling and up-and-down body movement. According to the report, the car covered 13,549 scale miles at 111 mph, after which the wheels wore down and locked up from grinding against the rough surface. The experiment also produced visible microplastic grime and deep wheel grooves. A related test with a Z30 Toyota Soarer reached 214 mph but covered 7,964.8 scale miles in three days, four hours, 41 minutes, and 49 seconds.
