Winners and losers from politically-charged MotoGP Malaysian GP
The Malaysian MotoGP at Sepang delivered fewer fireworks than expected, but it still reshaped the season narrative, mixing track concerns, Qatar-related controversy and Jorge Martin’s withdrawal after an attempted comeback. Marc Marquez was the clear winner. The Ducati rider managed a near-perfect weekend with a small practice crash but no major errors on the way to taking control when Martin faded. Marquez benefited from strong execution in sprint conditions and a race strategy helped by Alex Marquez’s support early on, using the soft tyre window. The leading title contender’s form keeps a potential 10th world title within reach. Aprilia took the biggest hit. Marco Bezzecchi and Ai Ogura battled, but Raul Fernandez withdrew early and Martin couldn’t finish, leaving Aprilia without a podium. A Turn 1 crash contributed to a sixth-place result for Bezzecchi.
