Netflix Cuts 1,000 Jobs After Earlier Layoff Warnings
xCruzo Brief
Netflix will cut about 1,000 jobs worldwide—roughly 6% of its workforce—in what the Wall Street Journal describes as its largest round of layoffs since 2022. The reductions, communicated by co-CEOs Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos in an email Wednesday morning, target teams including product, technology, legal and human resources, according to the report. The decision follows an earlier Oct. 1 warning from the outlet my Too Much TV Newsletter, which reported Netflix was preparing for cuts that could affect as many as 1,000 employees (about 5%). The layoffs come amid slowing growth and worries over subscriber engagement, as Netflix reassesses expanding efforts like physical experiences and its gaming push.
