Rachel Chinouriri on Owning Her Pop Moment, Supporting Olivia Rodrigo & Bringing 'More Sparkles' Into Her Life
Rachel Chinouriri is gearing up for her second album, I Think I Spoke Too Soon, released Oct. 16 via Parlophone, framing the record as the moment her pop career clicks into place. The British-Zimbabwean artist, 27, says she feels markedly different from who she was at 22, and points to momentum from high-profile support and appearances. She performed at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, California, at the end of August, and has also received arena-tour support slots from artists including Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter. She made her Saturday Night Live UK debut more recently. Sonically, the album moves beyond the spoken-word and lo-fi elements of 2024’s What a Devastating Turn of Events, leaning into pop, new age, rock and electronic sounds.
