Bayer Joins ISSCR Consortium as Founding Member to Advance Stem Cell-Based

The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) announced the formation of the ISSCR Consortium on Advanced Stem Cell-Based Models in Drug Discovery and Development, a cross-sector effort to accelerate the use of human stem cell-derived models in preclinical work. Bayer is named a Founding Member, underscoring industry leadership in this initiative. Co-chairs Daniela Cornacchia (AstraZeneca) and Shuibing Chen (Weill Cornell Medicine) illustrate a collaboration between industry and academia. The consortium focuses on organoids, engineered tissues, and microphysiological systems—together New Approach Methodologies (NAMs)—to improve predictability and regulatory readiness.
