Indiana University has launched a multimillion-dollar initiative pairing artificial intelligence with medicinal chemistry to accelerate Alzheimer's drug discovery. The collaboration brings together the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Led by Associate Professor Yijie Wang, the project aims to screen billions of molecular candidates with AI and machine learning to identify novel entities that act on disease-relevant targets. The effort runs alongside the Therapeutics for Alzheimer's Disease (TREAT-AD) program, enabling integration of target discovery with computational chemistry. The initiative seeks to translate molecular insight into prioritized candidates for preclinical development and faster timelines.
