Doctors Find Sprouted Seed in Man's Eye After 4 Months | TrendingAmerican
xCruzo Brief
Doctors in Yakutsk removed a sprouted seed embedded in the conjunctiva of a 42-year-old man from Russia’s Sakha Republic after four months of worsening eye irritation. Maxim Sleptsov said a tree branch struck his face during a summer trip in the remote Abyysky district, leaving his eye red, watery and painful. He rinsed it and removed what seemed like bark, but symptoms persisted, including daily headaches, pressure around the eye and episodes of double vision. After specialists examined him at an emergency ophthalmology center in Yakutsk, they found the germinated seed on the surface tissue of the eye, with a root about 3 mm long. Ophthalmologist Elizaveta Karpova extracted it under local anesthesia.
