Ryan Lasko, a 24-year-old Athletics minor-league prospect who was left paralyzed in an outfield collision, has been released from an inpatient rehabilitation hospital and will continue his recovery from home. He left the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, New Jersey on Wednesday—exactly two months after arriving. The facility is about 35 miles from Rutgers, where Lasko played college ball and later became a second-round draft pick by the Athletics in 2023. The injury occurred on June 30 after a collision with teammate Devin Taylor; Lasko fractured C6 and C7 and underwent spinal decompression and stabilization surgery. Doctors and therapy staff say his progress is encouraging.
