Passengers restrain pilot during apparent medical emergency on 'terrifying' flight

Passengers on an Air Canada flight helped restrain a pilot during an apparent medical emergency after the aircraft abruptly swerved midflight, a situation passengers described as lasting about 40 minutes. Air Canada said Flight AC7664, operated by regional partner PAL Airlines, was traveling from Newark, New Jersey, to Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Wednesday when the captain became unwell. The first officer took control and diverted the plane to Boston, where it landed safely at Logan Airport. The captain was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The De Havilland Q400 carried 61 passengers, and the airline said it was arranging alternate travel for those on board.
