Plane to Canada diverts to Boston after captain has medical issue
A plane flying to Canada diverted to Boston after one of its pilots, the captain, experienced a medical issue and was taken out of the flight deck, according to the airline. Air Canada said the PAL Airlines flight from Newark to Halifax, Nova Scotia, landed safely at Logan Airport. The airline did not specify what kind of medical problem the captain had, only that he was taken for treatment in Boston. Massachusetts State Police described the event as a medical emergency and said the person was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. A person was seen being taken from the aircraft on a stretcher soon after it landed, shortly before 2 p.m., before being towed to a gate. Air Canada said it was working to get the 61 passengers to their final destinations.
