From formula racing to fly fishing: Cokes & Clubs showcases exciting opportunities

Calvin University’s student organizations kicked off the 2026–2027 year on Thursday, Sept. 3, with a slate of clubs spanning hands-on engineering, STEM community building and recreation. Cokes & Clubs highlights a Racing Club where students build open-wheeled racecars for Formula SAE, competing each spring against more than 100 universities, while also recruiting members beyond engineering for roles like finance, outreach, sponsors and events. Women in STEM aims to connect students across majors and reduce isolation in male-dominated fields; it plans a microbiology research night and emphasizes both academic advancement for women and support for members broadly. Calvin’s Ham Radio Club offers amateur radio training to communicate globally, and the coverage begins to outline its member conversations across distance.
