Jared Verse admits trying to 'make a big play' cost him in Browns debut

Jared Verse said the mindset he brought to his Browns debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 17 may have held him back. The 25-year-old defensive end played 37 of Cleveland’s 57 defensive snaps and recorded four combined tackles, including a tackle for loss, but Pro Football Focus credited him with no pass-rush pressure and listed his pass-rush win rate at 12.5%. Verse acknowledged he started thinking about forcing a “big play” after the Browns fell behind, rather than staying in his natural flow. Cleveland acquired Verse after trading two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams.
