Rahimi, Yassine help Morocco rally to beat Haiti 4-2 at World Cup
Soufiane Rahimi and Gessime Yassine helped Morocco overcome a scare to beat Haiti 4-2 on Wednesday and keep their World Cup run alive, erasing Haiti’s hopes of a first-ever point. Playing in Atlanta, Morocco had to respond twice after falling behind, including a lead taken by Haiti in the 10th minute when Lenny Jospeh’s back-heeled effort deflected off goalkeeper Yassine Bounou for an own goal credited to Bounou. Achraf Hakimi equalized in the 39th, but Wilson Isidor restored Haiti’s advantage four minutes later with a shot from outside the box. Morocco surged ahead after halftime as Rahimi scored in the 78th and Yassine added a goal in the 89th, with Ismael Saibari making it 2-2 before the break. Morocco finished second in Group C behind Brazil and next plays the runner-up of Group F in Monterrey.
