Renault 8 Gordini reborn as 270 hp electric rally retromobile

Renault is reviving the Gordini legacy with an all-electric concept EV dubbed the Gordini 8, aiming to blend retro design cues with modern rally performance. The original Renault 8 Gordini, launched in 1964, used a 95 hp four-cylinder engine mounted behind the rear axle and became known for lively handling. The new concept keeps the iconic shape but adds 270 hp electric power, modern suspension, wheels and aerodynamic “wings.” It features 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch at the rear, with design director Alexandre Malval saying the larger rear wheels emphasize momentum. Renault says it reviewed more than 300 sketches and selected two proposals to form a new blueprint, including a three-layer paint inspired by Bleu de France.
