Saved our library and it was so worth it'

Residents who saved Anlaby Park Community Library from closure in 2013 are marking a milestone as a major refurbishment advances. Hull City Council funds the exterior repairs, while the interior refresh is financed by money raised by around 60 to 80 volunteers, who also manage daily operations and events. The project continues the 2014 lease transfer to the Friends of Anlaby Park Library and includes structural fixes for subsidence to secure long-term viability. Work is scheduled to begin in July, with temporary accommodation on site to keep the library open and maintain community activities such as clubs, craft groups, and chess meetings.
