Trump Plans To Turn D.C.'s Signature 250th Event Into His Own Rally

Trump is advancing plans to stage a large-scale celebration that doubles as a campaign rally, aiming to convert the United States’ 250th anniversary into a Trump-centered spectacle. In a Truth Social post, he described a July 4 program anchored at the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, beginning at 7:00 p.m. EST, featuring what he calls the largest fireworks show in history and a multi-hour line-up of patriotic performances by more than 300 military bands, orchestras and ceremonial units. He also said he would deliver keynote remarks as part of a celebration dedicated to his presidency and legacy.

The arrangement has drawn scrutiny because a White House-backed public-private entity, Freedom 250, is shepherding the festivities, effectively replacing the bipartisan America 250 effort set up by Congress. The plan to hold a 'kick-off' rally on June 24 marks a deliberate shift toward a Trump-centric narrative as Washington, D.C., prepares to mark the milestone on July 4.
