Fresno County people and animals beat the heat

Friday’s extreme heat in Fresno County pushed crowds thinner at community markets, but people still showed up for the Clovis Farmers Market and the Fresno Fiesta Market at Manchester Center. Temperatures were well into the triple digits in the area, yet residents said they came for the atmosphere and to spend time with others despite the conditions. Vendors at Manchester Center hosted Fresno Fiesta Market events with live entertainment and food, and handed out free water bottles and popsicles to help guests stay hydrated. At Fresno Chaffee Zoo, animal staff said the animals can choose indoor or outdoor areas, supported by climate-controlled indoor spaces and outdoor habitats with misters, shade and enrichment ice treats.
