Reaves stays with Lakers for $185M | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Austin Reaves will remain with the Los Angeles Lakers after agreeing to a four-year contract worth $185 million, according to a person familiar with the deal who spoke to The Associated Press before it became official. The 28-year-old guard is declining his $14.9 million player option for the coming season to sign the new deal. Reaves, an undrafted player from Oklahoma’s program after the 2021 draft, increased his scoring average in each of his five NBA seasons and last year averaged 23.3 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds, despite missing parts of the season due to injuries. After the Lakers’ second-round loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, General Manager Rob Pelinka indicated the team and Reaves had effectively decided on an extension. Reaves would have been among the top free agents, but his future stays tied to the partnership with Luka Dončić, who missed time with a hamstring injury.
