SpaceX will invest $100 billion to build what it says will be its largest launch facility on the Louisiana coast, state officials and the company confirmed Tuesday. The Vermilion Parish campus is designed to support thousands of launches each year, with construction starting in 2027 and the first flight targeted for as soon as 2029. Louisiana expects the project to create 3,000 direct jobs over 10 years, with average pay projected at $92,600—192% above the parish’s average wage—and more than 8,100 indirect jobs across Acadiana. SpaceX will also pay $25 million annually for 25 years under a PILOT, plus $20 million upfront. Governor Jeff Landry framed it as part of more than $250 billion in new investment. The state also passed laws shielding aerospace records and making spaceport trespass a felony.
