Former Kings Forward Planning NBA Comeback
Former Sacramento Kings forward Trey Lyles is preparing for an NBA return after ending a one-year stint with Real Madrid. Lyles officially confirmed his departure from the Spanish club, with expectations that he wanted to return to North America rather than stay longer in Europe. Panathinaikos general manager Dimitris Kontos said Lyles wants to test the American market first, adding that the Greek club may still pursue him for the future. In EuroLeague play, Lyles averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 42 games, shooting 51.1% from the field and 45.9% from three-point range. He led Real in scoring and was second in rebounding as the team reached the EuroLeague final, including 24 points in the championship game versus Olympiacos. At 30, turning 31 in November, he will audition for NBA teams with averages of 12.5 points in 74 games during 2025-26.
