Cyberattack on Jaguar Land Rover was a state sponsored Assault
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) suffered a major cyberattack in August 2025 that severely disrupted operations, affecting its IT infrastructure, interrupting vehicle production and triggering significant economic losses. After investigations and reporting, concerns grew about possible Russian involvement, highlighting the threat of state-linked cybercrime. Owned by Indian group Tata, JLR reportedly suspended manufacturing across its facilities for several weeks while cybersecurity specialists contained the breach and restored critical systems. The disruption affected employees, dealerships, component manufacturers and other supply-chain partners, with industry estimates valuing total UK economic impact at up to £2.1 billion. In 2026, The New York Times linked the incident to Russian hackers, while UK figures including former Armed Forces Minister Al Carns suggested state involvement but without proving direct government control.
