Iconic lightning bolt returns: Chip Ganassi Racing and DHL to honor Alex Zanardi at Laguna Seca

Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) and DHL will bring back the iconic CGR lightning-bolt livery for the season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Sept. 4–6, 2026. The #10 Honda will be driven by four-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou, running the throwback design to honor late racer Alex Zanardi. The Sept. 6 race coincides with the 30th anniversary of “The Pass,” Zanardi’s last-lap move over the Corkscrew to win the 1996 season finale and capture Rookie of the Year honors. The weekend also marks 30 years since CGR’s first championship, won by Jimmy Vasser and Honda’s first IndyCar title. Palou leads by 91 points going into the doubleheader at Milwaukee Mile and will attempt to clinch a record-setting 18th IndyCar championship for CGR.
