Judge declares mistrial in Lindsay Clancy case. What happens to her now

A Massachusetts judge declared a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy murder case after jurors again failed to reach a unanimous decision, according to court proceedings Friday, Sept. 4. The 36-year-old is accused of killing her children—5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan—in January 2023 in Duxbury, where prosecutors say she strangled them with exercise bands in the basement while her husband, Patrick Clancy, was away. The jury deadlocked three times starting deliberations Aug. 27. After a Tuey-Rodriguez instruction on Sept. 2, an emergency stay sought by defense attorney Kevin Reddington was denied by the Supreme Judicial Court. The judge discharged the jurors; prosecutors must decide whether to retry.
