Nvidia pledges $250 million to UK AI safety research

Nvidia pledged $250 million in computing resources to the UK over five years to support AI security research, strengthening Britain’s push to become a global hub for AI governance and safety. The commitment, announced by Nvidia on Oct 14, includes $50 million worth of accelerated computing each year dedicated to agentic safety testing, aimed at helping UK researchers build stronger safeguards for more capable AI systems. The move comes amid heightened scrutiny after companies including Anthropic and OpenAI disclosed instances of unintended or rogue behavior from AI agents. British AI minister Kanishka Narayan said the funding will help ensure future AI is “safe, secure” and in the public interest.
