Own Your Own Sh*t Tour' comes to Spokane to advocate for consumers' rights

The FULU Foundation is bringing its “Own Your Own Sh*t Tour” to Spokane on Friday as part of an effort tied to the “right to repair” movement. The free event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ruby River Hotel, in Shoreline Ballroom A, with check-in starting at 5:45 p.m. Organizers argue that tech firms often require repairs using brand-name parts or only company technicians, leaving devices unusable if repairs circumvent those rules. The group also highlights Section 1201 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which criminalizes bypassing digital locks, and says it can prevent consumers from sharing fixes—even for discontinued products.
