When Will We Stop Sacrificing Our Girls to the Trans Movement?

A controversy in Canada over youth swimming eligibility has resurfaced as parents and advocates debate safety, inclusion and locker-room access. The dispute centers on Nicholas J. Cepeda, who goes by Melody Wiseheart, a 53-year-old who identifies as a young girl and has been allowed to swim and change with female competitors. A 2023 New York Post report tied the issue to the Trojan Cup in Barrie, Ontario, where parents said girls as young as 8 were terrified and covered locker rooms with towels. Swimming authorities said athletes are seeded by entry time and that Swim Ontario investigated concerns after an adult competed against swimmers aged 12–14 at Richmond Hill Aquatic Club.
