A former KLM airline boss, Camiel Eurlings, set an aircraft on fire after using a power bank midair in violation of company rules, reports Nu.nl. Eurlings, 53, was traveling in business class on a KLM flight to Curaçao when he fell asleep while charging the device in his lie-flat seat. Witnesses said the power bank exploded about five and a half hours into the flight, igniting part of the cabin. Crew extinguished the flames quickly, and the plane returned to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport over the Atlantic. Eurlings previously led KLM from 2011 to 2014 and had served as Dutch transport minister. KLM limits passengers to two power banks, kept in sight and prohibited from being charged during flight.
